Antoni Cieszyński was born in Oleśnica in 1882. His father, Tomasz Cieszyński (1846 – 1891), was a chemist from Oleśnica and the author of a Polish-Latin Dictionary for Chemists published in 1880. Antoni Cieszyński pursued a career in the field of dentistry. In his later years he became a professor of Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv. He is considered to be a creator of the modern Polish dentistry and a pioneer of dental radiology and his scientific achievements are appreciates all over the world. Antoni Cieszyński was murdered by the German force in Lviv in 1941 during the massacre of Lviv professors.
